La Quarantina

The beginning was so much lighter…

When I recorded this, I was only three weeks in. Now I’ve lost track of the weeks. At this point it’s been over two months, but that hardly seems important given what’s happening in the outside world. My world has become my room and my mind seems to have adapted to it, like an animal in a zoo. My life has taken on a completely new rhythm (or lack thereof), one that is no longer dictated by alarm clocks and metro times and lunch hours. Now each day has one even tone, no peaks, no valleys, but also no real life. The malaise is inescapable, but there are always fleeting moments when the spring sun feels warm on my skin and a beautiful song plays through my earbuds, and I forget for a moment the reality we are all living in.
